YE Outdoor Rocks in Balan, Romania and the importance of practicing outdoor activities

Updated: Oct 2, 2021

Outdoor Rocks - an initiative to increase awareness among young people on the importance of practicing outdoor activities

In collaboration with Young Europe Society Association we implement between 16 and 27 July 2021 in Bălan-Harghita the Outdoor Rocks project, a Youth Exchange co-financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Commission. The project brings together 65 young people accompanied by group leaders from Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal and Lithuania. The theme of the 10 days of activity is hiking and rock climbing. Guided by group leaders and experts in the field, they will learn how to organize a mountain hike, what are the protection measures to be taken in such an activity, and will have the opportunity to practice rock climbing, regardless of the level of previous experience. The place of activities will be Lonely Rock, representative for Bălan and for the rock climbing trails arranged for all levels of training.

In addition to the thematic activities, young people will take part in many team-building activities, discover the opportunities offered by the European Commission's youth programs and develop their civic sense, along with other intercultural skills.

At the end of this project we anticipate that the young participants will have an increased interest in practicing outdoor activities, to the detriment of the time spent in front of the screens.

ICDET is happy to be partner in this project.
