LIFE+| Volunteer@ICDET weekly diary by Aylin

I arrived in Sofia in the morning. I went home using the subway. When I arrived the home, everyone was sleeping. Later in the day, we met with Taniyana in Starbucks. She was so cute also so knowledgeable. We was so excited because we would start to our travel next day.

We woke up early and went to train station. This process was a little hard for us. Despite everything we bought our tickets. Travel was starting. First stop was Plovdiv. Firstly we sit somewhere and then attendant came and said “This place is not yours but if you sit here you should buy 3 leva for each person.” After that we found our place. Plovdiv, one of the most beautiful Bulgarian cities. We thought that this city is more amazing than Sofia. Streets and museums of Plovdiv really incredible for me. I want to visit again. We didn´t stay at Plovdiv we would go to Burgas by night train. Our train was move at 01.40. So we waited at bench.

After the terrible train trip we arrived Burgas. < it was really terrible.> Then we went Sunny Beach using bus. Sunny Beach was very nice place, we had fun. But Mehmet Akif was having a healt problem. Actually we very scared for that. Despite some issues, we enjoyed in Sunny Beach. There was some good clubs, we visit almost all of them. But I didn’t like sea of there. It was cold, dirty also wavy.

After the Sunny Beach, our next stop was Nessebar. Our hotel was very nice. Nessebar was historical also colorful place. I liked there. We have been 2 night. First night we coincided a festival in old town. it was so cute. There are some children from different countries and they showed their folk dances. Second day Fatih and Kadir left Nessebar to return to Sofia. Sea of Nessebar is better than Sunny Beach. It was not so cold. Also it was really clean.

Morning of monday, we left hotel to go to Varna. But Akif went to Hatay. Anyway we arrived Varna using bus. Center of Varna was similar to other metropolis. There was a huge cathedral what named “The Dormition of Mother of God Cathedral.’’ We didn’t enough time to visit all Varna. We just had a few hours. After that we left Varna. We bought train tickets and we returned to Sofia.

This week was my third week in Bulgaria. So Lily and I took a Share + video. Really, I was so excited to this experience. Also, new volunteers came this tuesday !!! We started some preparations to new volunteers.

When new volunteers came here, we did a welcome party to them in happy restaurant. In addition to this, I and Fatih gave some basic information about the everyday life of Bulgaria and Icdet. They had some main sessions in Icdet. So we went to sessions together and I worked my project in the office. After the office, we did a second welcome party with Icdet team.

I had lots of apprehensions about new volunteers, before they come to Bulgaria. But now, we are like a big family in our house.

Today was a motivation night to women :). We had lots of main session in Icdet. But after our sessions, men played a playstation and women prepared to their night.

Aslı, Aylin and I went to some unbelievable historical places. We like all part of Sofia. When we hang out street of Sofia, we see lots of street performer. After our travel, we ate pizza in front of The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

This week my aunt and her friend came Sofia to me. But they came early and we encounter at center of Sofia. I was shocked. Really, World is small. This event was evidence to me.

In the final event of this week, Aymira came at Sofia :)). She came here with camp tools. So I so excited to new experience with our big family.

LIFE+| VOLUNTEER@ICDET Weekly Diary by Asli

Welcome to my weekly diary between 9th and 16th August of 2019.

This week was my second week in Sofia. We had a session with Ivan Tinev and Ivan Ivanov at 9th of August and then guys played playstation with Ivanov and we all girls came back to home for prepare to night. We went to Carrusel Club this night and had fun too much.

Next day we discovered the city with Aylin and Burcu. We joined to free city tour and travelled kinds of historical places such as Aleksandar Nevski Cathedral, Kyriaki Cathedral Church.

Next day was Sunday, and this day we were at Druzhba. We cooked dinner together and talked about our projects and travel plan.

Monday, me and Aylin discovered the city and went other historical places and gardens.

We went History Museum of Sofia firstly and then Banya Bashi Mosque. Then we saw the university, travelled at streets, churches and City Garden.

Next day was tuesday and that day we went to Happy Restaurant for meet with our new mentor Delyana. We talked and planned our travel. Then some guys backed to the home, Aylin and me stayed in center and went Borisova Gradina, South Park and shopping mall center. While night was closing, we went back to home and Aymira came. We went to lake in Druzhba together and chilled in there.

Day of wednesday, Aylin, Kadir and me discovered the city. Then we met with other guys and ate sushi. Weater was little bit cold and we hung out at City Garden and then went back home .

Thursday we had a Session with Ivanov and we went to Druzhba Lake. He teached budget management and played games about this subject.

Then Akif went to Macedonia, me and other guys stayed at home and hung out.

Friday, we had breakfast at Lake with together and it was soo good. Then we went to Decathlon in Vitosha, we were shopping and came back to home. Aylin and me ate noodle in Chinesse Restaurant and then Aylin went to Istanbul. If i will say last thing about this week, it was really nice amazing week for me.
